Lucknow : The BJP-led Narendra Modi government failed to pass the 131st Amendment Bill, the Delimitation Bill 2026, and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill 2026 in Parliament. The opposition questioned these and voted against them.
In protest, the BJP burned effigies of opposition leaders in several districts of Uttar Pradesh as part of the Women’s Public Outrage Conference. In Bahraich, Sadar MLA Anupama Jaiswal was burned while burning an effigy of SP President Akhilesh Yadav.
Anupama Jaiswal was immediately admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after suffering burns. However, to everyone’s surprise, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav arrived at the hospital on Tuesday to inquire about her well-being. Akhilesh also shared a photo of their meeting with the BJP MLA on social media.
