Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi government has made a major change to its ambitious “One District, One Cuisine” (ODOC) scheme. Launched on the lines of “One District, One Product” (ODOP), this scheme now excludes all non-vegetarian dishes.

World-famous dishes like Galawati Kebab, Awadhi Biryani, and Murgh Musallam have been removed from the list of Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts, allowing only vegetarian products.

Kebab has been replaced by “Rewadi” and “Malai Makhan”

Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, has been globally recognized for its Tunday Kebab and Awadhi Biryani. However, according to the new list, Malai Makhan, the famous Chaat, and Rewadi have been selected as Lucknow’s representative dishes. Furthermore, products made from Dussehri mangoes have also been prioritized. The administration argues that this change has been made to promote agriculturally based products and local sweets.

Only vegetarian products dominate in 75 districts

This new and revised list released by the government includes only vegetarian dishes or agricultural products from all 75 districts of the state. While earlier discussions had focused on promoting the non-vegetarian flavors of Awadh and Rohilkhand internationally, the focus of the entire plan has now shifted to pure vegetarian and traditional dishes.
